How we ended up buying an abandoned sailboat.

This story starts with a dream—a dream of sailing the open waters, of feeling the wind in our hair and the waves beneath our hull.  It really took hold during the pandemic, and as we started getting deep into YouTube sailing videos, we started to wonder if we couldn’t start our own sailing journey.

Boats are expensive, but deals can be had, and as luck would have it, we found an incredible deal on Craigslist, for an abandoned boat that was being sold at a lien sale by a local marina: a 1970 36' Cheoy Lee Luders Sloop.

Yes, you read that right. An abandoned sailboat, waiting for someone to breathe new life into her weary bones. And the price? A mere $2,000. It was a steal, an opportunity too good to pass up. We even managed to haggle the price down to $1,680. Talk about a bargain!

Now, I must confess, we're not exactly seasoned sailors. In fact, we're about as green as they come. But hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? Armed with a thirst for adventure and a healthy dose of determination, we set out to transform our humble vessel into a reliable coastal cruiser.

And so our journey began. Come along as we try to bring this old sailboat back to life!  Fair winds and following seas, my friends. The ocean awaits.
